Thieves Steal Goods Worth Up to 2 Million NOK in Bjørkelangen Store Break-In

On Wednesday evening, a car backed down the gate at Power in Bjørkelangen and shop owner Martin Foss. The thieves then broke into the store and made off with the goods, including mobile phones and airpods.

Shop owner Foss himself was first on the scene, after being notified of the incident by his security company.

Romerikes Blad mentioned the matter first.

Items worth between NOK 600,000 and 900,000 are gone. If we also take into account the damage caused to the store by the thieves, the financial consequences of the incident can exceed one million.

– Fortunately and unfortunately, I got here a minute and a half after the car had left. I had the operations center on my ear when I entered the building, and ensured that no one was in the building, as I was there alone, he tells Nettavisen.

Many emotions have gone through the shopkeeper’s body during the dramatic night.

About the feelings he feels, he says:

– Frustrated, angry and dejected. There is nothing we can do but start over and secure ourselves even better, he says and adds that they were confident that the building was safe, even from the beginning.

The night has been long for the shop owner.

– I didn’t sleep at all last night. It’s been a mess. Everyone thought we were well secured, but we now realize that we need to secure ourselves even more.

Connects to TV 2 series

TV 2series Åsted Norge showed on Monday a similar theft at Elkjøp in Vestby on 21 September.

Then a Porsche Cayenne backed up through the gate to the store and the thieves got away with large amounts of valuables as well.

– Those who carried out the break-in at Bjørkelangen had a similar modus operandi, so there is reason to think in the same direction, says project leader Andreas Paulsen to NTB.

Shop owner Foss has no doubt that the thieves knew what they were after.

– They know very well what they are doing and what they have to do. If we had put a truck in front of this entrance, I think they would have taken a route or a wall somewhere else.

Operations manager Håkon Hatlen told Romerikes Blad this about the incident:

– The surveillance images show a black station wagon that has been used to back into the gate. They have supplied themselves roughly with mobile phones and tablets inside the place.

The thieves left one thing behind

The police searched for the perpetrators last night. A helicopter and several patrols were involved in the search.

However, it did not lead to success, and according to Romerikes Blad, the search ended at around 01.40 last night.

The case will now be followed up by the police investigation department. Back at the shop in Bjørkelangen, shop owner Martin Foss manages to see some gallows humor after the incident.

– The funniest thing in the whole thing is that they left the Doro phones behind, he says.
