NEW YORK – Authorities are seeking two suspects of posing as Verizon employees to forcibly enter a home, tie up the victim and steal about $ 80,000 in cash in Brooklyn, police said.

According to the Police report, the robbery occurred on July 8, around 2:00 pm, when two men allegedly knocked on the door of a residence, located in the area of Ridgeweood Avenue Y Richmond Street, and they posed as Verizon workers.

The resident, a 61-year-old man, opened the door and the suspects pushed him into the house. The alleged robbers then placed the victim in a strangulation position and tied his hands and feet with ropes and duct tape, police said.

The suspects then beat the victim and threatened him with a gun to his mouth while asking where the money was. The two men then allegedly searched the home for the money and fled on foot with approximately $ 80,000 in cash, jewelry and the victim’s wallet.

Both suspects are described as African American men, weighing about 180 pounds and were last seen wearing dark clothing and green vests.
