They stopped developing the vaccine on Covid-19, but Europe still has a lot to choose from

A vaccine that the whole of Europe has relied on. This is a vaccine from the British company AstraZeneca. As part of the study, experts applied it without problems to several thousand people in Britain, Brazil and South Africa. Now the company has stopped clinical trials.

As the researchers began recruiting 30,000 volunteers in the United States as part of the final testing, one of the participants developed health complications. The European Union agreed on the deliveries with the company.

“Through this agreement, Member States will be able to purchase 300 million doses of the vaccine, with the possibility of an additional 100 million doses,” said Tim McPhie, spokesman for the European Commission’s climate and energy department.

According to experts, the European Union is not in danger of financial losses. “So far, there have been no financial flows, which means that the European Union does not run the risk of not receiving something to pay for,” said Jakub Dvořáček, director of the Association of the Innovative Pharmaceutical Industry.

However, the vaccine could reach patients later than planned. But countries still have a lot to choose from. According to Dvořák, approximately five other companies are promising.

According to experts, the member states of the European Union could get the coronavirus vaccine by the end of this year. According to estimates, the Czechia should receive around 600,000 vaccination doses.

EU countries could have between 40 and 50 million benefits available by the end of the year. Thus, a more general vaccination will be possible in the spring of next year.
