An off-duty NYPD officer was robbed of his watch at knifepoint in Brooklyn early Tuesday morning, along with two friends who were also robbed.
According to the NYPD, the 27-year-old police officer and two other men were outside an apartment building on Guider Avenue near East 12th Street in Brighton Beach around 1:30 am when others three individuals approached them.
One of the suspects pulled out a knife. and demanded that the officer and the other two victims hand over their watches, police said. The three victims complied and the suspects fled..
The officer was not armed and did not identify himself as police, NYPD sources said. No injuries were reported, he said. New York Post.
According to the latest police statistics, so far in 2022 crime has risen 37% in the city of New York, mainly grand thefts, carjackings and other thefts.
In particular, robberies rose 39.4%, from 7,099 to 9,893 incidents, according to NYPD data through Sunday, July 31.
These figures confirm the experts’ fears that New York was going to experience a spike in violence this summer, both with firearms and white.
