They raise concerns about the lack of public passenger transport

From the Cambiemos block, councilor Diego Austin, a member of the Transportation Commission, warned about the need to implement as soon as possible a service that allows residents to move, even hinting at the possibility that the municipality itself takes charge of this responsibility .
“We are with the sad news that we do not have public transport,” he told the press yesterday. “Due to the resolution previously signed by the mayor, public transport had been left without circulation, and then came the expiration of the provisional contract that had been signed with the company that was going to provide the service.”
From the Deliberative Council he pointed out that «previously we had asked on three occasions that they send us even the draft of the tender specifications to analyze it as a whole, but we never received it. I understand that it had been delayed, that they had had some other problem, so we thought that it was possible that the service that had been providing another month or two would be extended. And now we come to find out that the company that was providing the service says that it is not profitable, and that it no longer wants to provide the service.
The mayor warned that “people have to continue to travel to their workplaces and as it is a public service, the responsibility of providing the service is the responsibility of the municipality. If the tender cannot be done in a timely manner, because we will not be able to analyze the specifications outside the legislative period because there are councilors who are not in the city, we will have to provide an emergency service, and we will have to do it this week”.

LOSS SERVICE
Regarding the complications to continue with the concession of the service, Austin said that the Jacoben company says that it is “not profitable”, “and we see that public transport nationwide is having very serious problems. Without going any further, in La Plata a company left 75 workers laid off and filed for bankruptcy. Huge problems are being generated because the national government is cutting subsidies.
However, he stressed, “we have the possibility from the Municipality of Esquel to improve the service and perhaps make a municipal service. I still haven’t been able to talk to Jacobsen to see what led to them not wanting to provide the service. But we have to see the prospects to solve this and guarantee public passenger transport.
