A partial state of emergency has been declared in the municipality of Velingrad. This happened by order of Mayor Kostadin Koev, following a decision of the Crisis Staff.
The partial state of emergency has been declared from 20:00 today until 20:00 on 12 August. It is valid for part of the territory of the municipality, namely the area of DLS “Chepino” and SFE “Alabak”, in the areas “Bachovitsa” and “Sivek”.
The main reasons for the crisis situation are the growing fires in the forest areas and the smoking of part of the territory of Velingrad municipality, as well as the danger of gassing and smoking of the city, which endangers the life and health of the population.
According to initial data, the area of today’s fire is over 1000 decares, at times it is peak and is influenced by the direction and strength of the wind. A clearing is made, as the forest is very dense and impassable. There are currently fire brigades and forest officers on the scene.
A Disaster Protection Plan of the Municipality of Velingrad, part “Fires” has been put into operation. The movement of people and motor vehicles in the area of the declared state of emergency is severely restricted.
