The Federal Council allows it: Starting next Monday, the Winterthur gastronomy can again serve guests on the terraces. In addition, the restaurants in the city can put their tables and chairs further out in the alleys this year. In order to alleviate the plight of the landlords, the city council allowed them to enlarge their outdoor areas last May. He extended this rule in autumn, and it now applies until the end of November at the latest. Restaurants that do not have a garden restaurant can set up one temporarily.
The reactions to the loosening are mixed among the restaurateurs. Carlo Dosch from the Winterthur Gastro Association describes the terrace solution as “useless”, it is “neither fish nor bird”. The effort for the restaurateurs to open the terrace to be served is far too great compared to the benefit.
