A woman was arrested and identified publicly the day after the speeding car ran a red light and crashed into vehicles at a busy intersection in Windsor Hills, causing a fire in an accident in which six people diedincluding a pregnant woman and her unborn child, the California Highway Patrol announced Friday.

Nicole Lorraine Linton, 37, was detained at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, CHP said in a news release.

Highway Patrol authorities reported that they will recommend vehicular manslaughter charges with gross negligence when the case comes before the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, he said.

On Friday morning, authorities identified a pregnant woman and her unborn child as two of the six victims who died in the collision.

The coroner’s office has not yet released the names of the other four deceased victims, but described them as one child, whose age was not specified, two women and one man.

The little boy who died was Asherey Ryan’s son, her sister said Friday in an interview with ABC 7’s Eyewitness News.

“I drove to the scene,” Ryan’s sister said. “I ran past the cops just because I wanted to feel their energy one more time. “Yesterday, I really lost it,” she said. “My family was broken yesterday. And we’re still broken.”

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday, a Mercedes-Benz coupe caused an accident involving up to six cars near a gas station, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Terrible accident

Several people were thrown from cars and two vehicles caught fire. News video from the scene showed charred and mangled cars as well as a child’s seat amid debris littering the street.

Surveillance video showed the Mercedes barreling through an intersection, striking at least two cars that exploded into flames and were sent hurtling onto a sidewalk, ending up against the corner gas station sign. A streak of fire engulfed a car. One vehicle was split in half.

“It looked like the entire intersection from corner to corner was on fire,” witness Harper Washington said. and ABC7. “Lots of sparks and electricity. I had the impression that, at first, I thought a bomb had been dropped on us. I thought another world war had started. Then I realized that it was a car that had hit the sign.”

“Once the fire was out and the noise passed, I realized there were two cars there. You could see people on fire and that’s sad. I really pray for the people and the community.”

Seven injured people were taken to hospital, including the woman who was driving the Mercedes. yesHis injuries were described as non-fatal.

The other victims had minor injuries and included a 33-year-old woman and six children between the ages of 13 months and 15 years, CHP Officer Franco Pepi said.
