VVV-Venlo O21 was unable to achieve a result against Royal HFC on Saturday afternoon. For a long time, at least a draw seemed feasible, but the Venlo promises eventually lost: 3-1.
VVV started the match strongly when visiting Royal HFC. Coach Joeri Jansseen’s team was already dangerous a number of times before it actually opened the score after fifteen minutes of play. After Gio Felicia’s shot was blocked, the ball landed at the feet of Melano Thier and the attacker then shot VVV into the lead. Before halftime, the visitors even thought about a second goal when a foul seemed to have been committed on Felicia, but the referee did not want to hear about a penalty.
After that moment, the home team got into the match better and that resulted in the equalizer five minutes before the break. Despite the 1-1 score, VVV started strong again after the break, but after ten minutes it was HFC that was accurate again. Even after that goal, VVV continued to hunt for a Limburg goal. Mohamad Hegi got a big one for that, while the Venlo team claimed another penalty after a foul on Thier. Once again, however, the referee did not point to the spot.
VVV continued to hunt for the equalizer to at least gain a point from the meeting with Koninklijke HFC. However, in the 88th minute it was the home team that scored again. After a too short back pass to VVV goalkeeper Jens Craenmehr, the match could easily be decided definitively in HFC’s favor.
