Two unknown persons were arrested early this morning, Monday (8/5) in Thessaloniki, in an incident that was broadcast live on television channels. The two young men they had originally been tamboured in a church bell tower and they were trying to escape, jumping from rooftop to rooftop.
According to ERT, it had erupted during the night fire in an electronics store in the center of Thessaloniki in the area of Venizelos and Ionos Dragoumi, which completely destroyed it, causing a great mobilization of the Fire Department. It is checked whether the two incidents are connected, as the young people were noticed when the authorities went to the scene. The first youth to be arrested shouted to the officers that it has nothing to do with how they were there to make a graffiti.
The two young men with their faces covered went up to the church of Agios Minasand were jumping from rooftop to rooftop while throwing objects, demanding that the police be removed from the scene so that they could descend.
The police went up to the roof to arrest them. The first got down and tried to escape, but was arrested, while the second surrendered after the intervention of the priest of the church.
