These rules apply from Monday in Berlin

BerlinThe corona incidence is rising steadily and reaching record levels. As of next Monday, 2G restrictions will therefore apply throughout Berlin. To what extent is regional sport affected? Read here what will still be possible – and what will not.

Indoor sports:

All indoor sports facilities, such as fitness and dance studios as well as swimming pools and thermal baths, are only allowed to those who have been vaccinated and recovered (2G), but not to those who have been tested (3G). The same goes for saunas.

Outdoor sporting events:

The 2G rule also applies to outdoor events from Monday – provided they have more than 2000 visitors. For all other events outside, it remains an option.

Children and adolescents excluded:

Children and young people under the age of 18 are not affected by the measures. Even with a negative test result, they can take part in public life in general and consequently in sporting events in particular. The same goes for people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

The President of the Berlin State Sports Federation, Thomas Härtel, warns of new restrictions in sport for children and young people: “Children and young people were the ones who suffered in the first two lockdowns. The unusual sports activities have had serious effects – physically, mentally and socially. That must not happen again ”, so Härtel in a press statement.

Indoor sporting events – polar bears, foxes and BR Volleys:

The 2G rule has already been introduced for the games of the three Berlin professional sports clubs Eisbären, Füchse and BR Volleys. Since October 17th, only vaccinated and recovered spectators have been allowed into the home arena of the polar bears at the Ostbahnhof. However, the audience limit has been removed: 14,200 people are again allowed into the hall.

Sports events outside – Hertha, Union and Alba:

The two big Berlin soccer clubs Hertha and Union have so far operated according to the 3G principle. At the last home game of Hertha against Leverkusen, the east curve in the Olympic Stadium was opened, up to 37,500 fans were allowed into the arena. Now, after the new resolution of the Senate, this is no longer possible: In the future, 2G will also apply there.
