These photos show how much Trump and Obama differ

At first glance, these are two suspicious images that are spreading rapidly on Twitter. One shows a senior class with interns in the Obama administration’s White House – the other a similar senior class under the Trump administration.
Already at second glance you notice: The proportion of blacks and people of color in one shot goes to zero (on the left edge of the shot from the Trump-Weissen-Haus two PoC can be seen) – while in the other the ratio between whites and blacks / PoC is approximately the same.
The story of two presidents
The recordings and their comparison are not new. In 2018, the US diplomat James Costos made a similar tweet. The accusation that the Trump administration is “color blind” is also raised in both tweets.
What is new, however, is the distribution that this comparison is experiencing. Costo’s tweet had 1586 likes and 850 retweets in more than two years. Fernand R. Amandi, on the other hand, managed 155,000 retweets and almost half a million likes within one day.
It appears: The USA is currently – still under the impression of George Floyd’s death – apparently talking even more about racism and unequal treatment of whites and blacks / PoC than was the case in 2018.
Users find differences between Obama and Trump
The reactions under the tweet Amandis speak volumes in this regard. For their part, users commented on image comparisons below. One shows President Barack Obama leading a protest march hand in hand with his family while Trump is shown alone and surrounded by security forces.
The criticism from Amandi and the other users from his Twitter bubble seems unanimous: Obama was president of all US citizens – Trump is above all his own president.
Not all Americans share this criticism. The president is still popular with his mostly white electorate. Even if, due to the high level of unemployment and the economic damage caused by Covid-19, the backing is dwindling here and there, as surveys show.
