With Silvana’s violent death in Hoogeloon, something happened that we rarely see. It appears that suspect Marlon B. hid the body of his ex in a forest. The dumping of a body usually takes place at night, according to similar disappearance cases in Brabant. Another striking similarity: the man himself put the body in his car and drove it to the junkyard.
The case of Hoogeloon evokes memories that go back quite a while. In the last twenty years there have been several murder cases in Brabant with important similarities.
Trunk murder
The murder of Uden’s trunk in 2006 is known. Marga and Hans were married and had two children, but had decided to separate. They no longer slept together every night, but in the same house.
Hans bought a shotgun and two days later snuck into her bedroom in the middle of the night and shot her in the head. He buried her body in the Ardennes. He later dug it up to dump it in Germany, but he was captured there.
The man has never been really clear about his motive, but it seems that he wanted to get rid of her due to the breakup of the relationship. The court later ruled that the man acted deliberately and sentenced him to 20 years in prison. The man died after a few years in prison.
Family murder
In 2005 there was an infamous family murder: Claudia and her three and five year old daughters disappeared in Zoetermeer. Her husband Richard had several extramarital affairs and told police that her family was in her way.
He knocked his wife unconscious one night and strangled his daughters. He buried them in a forest near Chaam. Then he met his Polish girlfriend and only after about ten days did he report her family missing. The police didn’t trust him and found traces of blood in his house and finally in Chaam’s bodies. Richard received 20 years in prison and TBS.
Claw hammer murder
Tinka from Breda has been dating the wrong men. One evening in 2004, they were all together at a weed farm in Zevenbergschen Hoek. There a friend of hers, whose name is Arno, beat Tinka to death with a claw hammer. He wrapped the woman in plastic and dumped her in the Biesbosch.
Why he killed Tinka has never been clarified. At the time, the story was that he had a crush on her but he couldn’t have her. The man was sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment.
18 years in prison or more
In all cases, the violent death mattered a lot to the judges, but so did the disrespectful concealment of the body. 18 years in prison seems to be the minimum limit imposed. Sometimes TBS follows.
What it was about in Hoogeloon and whether the suspect also dumped Silvana is not yet officially known. Everything is still under investigation.
