These are the extra measures taken by the six ‘worrisome’ regions | NOW

The regions of Amsterdam-Amstelland, Rotterdam-Rijnmond, Haaglanden, Utrecht, Kennemerland and Hollands Midden announced new measures on Friday evening to prevent further spread of the corona virus. NU.nl lists the most important additional measures per region.

The government has classified these six regions as ‘worrisome’, which means that the number of positive tests in the area has shown a significant increase.

The measures for the catering industry will take effect from 6 pm on Sunday. From that moment onwards, catering establishments may no longer allow new visitors in from midnight and groups may not exceed fifty people, both indoors and outdoors.

On top of the catering measures and the ground rules the six regions have announced additional measures. These vary by region.

Amsterdam-Amstelland

To combat illegal parties in Amsterdam-Amstelland, the region will preventively close off places such as parks at night. The region says that it also wants to draw extra attention to compliance with the basic rules by using arrows and extra markings in public places.

Communication campaigns, aimed at young people, should provide additional incentives to observe the basic rules. In places where many infections occur, such as schools, catering establishments and student associations, the corona prevention teams of the GGD and municipalities will deliver so-called prevention packages. In addition, shopping baskets are counted and disinfected again.

Rotterdam-Rijnmond

In the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region, the police will conduct more targeted inspections of certain target groups, including student societies, for sports facilities and party halls.

To emphasize the urgency of complying with the measures, extra attention is given to this in public space. The region is developing local campaigns in areas where there are many infections. In addition, the discussion is entered into with groups where many infections are found, such as young people, students and people with a migrant background.

Rotterdam-Rijnmond will also set so-called window times for vulnerable target groups on public buildings and will again count and disinfect shopping baskets.

Haaglanden

In the Haaglanden region, there will be more intensive enforcement of compliance with the corona measures: more checks will be made at catering establishments, party halls, sports facilities and student societies. In case of violation of the rules, the location will receive a warning, in case of multiple violations, it will be temporarily closed.

As a starting point, the region has taken extra attention to really comply with corona measures and campaigns are being set up for this purpose. The region “urges all residents to take responsibility and abide by the measures.” Haaglanden also enters into discussions with specific target groups and industries for this purpose.

Utrecht

Where possible, stricter enforcement of the corona measures will be implemented in the Utrecht region. The main focus is on tightening up supervision and enforcement in parks, areas with a high risk of illegal parties and sectors where excessive contamination takes place.

Campaigns are also being set up in Utrecht and discussions are held with specific target groups where many infections are observed. In the city of Utrecht, the mayor has agreed with umbrella organizations of sports, study and social clubs that they will come up with an action plan themselves next week to prevent further spread of the virus. The region is also investigating whether there is a need for window times.

Kennemerland

In the Kennemerland region, extra checks are carried out in sectors with a lot of infections, such as sports clubs. There will also be areas where people are not allowed to be present during the night, in order to combat illegal parties.

The Kennemerland region will strengthen communication towards specific target groups where many infections are seen: young adults (20-29 years), students and migrants. In that communication, the region focuses directly on organizations.

The GGD will also approach sectors where many infections are reported, such as sports clubs, schools, supermarkets and catering, to hold them accountable for their responsibility.

Hollands Midden

The Hollands Midden region mainly sticks to the measures announced by the cabinet Broadcaster West. Mayor Henri Lenferink of Leiden tells the news medium that talks will take place with young people, but sees no reason for additional measures. “Most infections take place behind the front door, we cannot intervene there,” said Lenferink.
