Next Wednesday, the National Security Council will meet to determine, among other things, a date for the reopening of bars and restaurants in Belgium.
Bars, restaurants and cafes have been closed since March 12 in Belgium due to the spread of the coronavirus epidemic. Some 186,000 employees and 60,000 owners of hotel and catering businesses have since been awaiting information regarding a return to business.
If no date has yet been determined, the date of June 8 is mentioned but nothing has been confirmed, an agreement was reached between representatives of the sector and the government on Friday concerning the conditions of reopening.
Indeed, the reopening will not be done freely. The following conditions must be met:
– The closing time of establishments will be set at midnight at the latest.
– Tables should be separated by at least 1.5 meters, both in restaurants and in cafes.
– To go to the restaurant, you must make a reservation.
– To get to the café, you will have to either book or give your contact details (to allow contact tracking if necessary).
– In cafes, it will be forbidden to reserve at the counter or to sit there.
– To present the card, signs must be used. Individual menus will be prohibited.
