For owners of old rupiah notes, you need to know that there are 20 types Fractions of Money Special Rupiah (URK) which was officially revoked and withdrawn by Bank Indonesia (BI).
Executive Director of the Communications Department of Bank Indonesia, Erwin Haryono, said that the coins were special rupiah notes for the 1970-1990 issuance years from circulation. Revocation and withdrawal of URK in accordance with PBI No.23/12/PBI/2021 effective August 30, 2021.
“Thus, as of the date referred to, the URK is no longer valid as a legal tender in Indonesia,” he said in an official statement, quoted on Saturday (11/9/2021).
However, the public is no longer able to exchange the money due to the specified time limit until August 29, 2021.
The following is a list of rupiah denominations that can no longer be used as a means of payment:
1. The Special Series 25 Rupiah for the Year of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in the Year 1970 in the amount of 10 denominations;
2. Special Rupiah Series for the 1974 Emission of the Year in the amount of 3 denominations;
3. The Special Rupiah Currency Series for the 1987 Emission of the Year in the amount of 2 denominations;
4. Special Rupiah for Struggle Series ’45 Year 1990 Issue in 3 denominations;
5. Special Rupiah for Save The Children Series 1990 Issued in 2 denominations.
