The text message was sent to a close friend just six days before Anne-Elisabeth Hagen disappeared from her home.
In interrogation, the friend has said that she experienced the marriage between Anne-Elisabeth and Tom Hagen as conflict-filled.
– For the sake of the investigation, we can not comment on questions related to possible evidence or speculation about this, says police inspector Gjermund Hanssen to TV 2.
No sure signs of life
Anne-Elisabeth Hagen disappeared from the couple’s home on 31 October 2018 sometime between 9.15 and 13.30. Since then, there have been no sure signs of life from the then 68-year-old woman.
The husband – the businessman and billionaire Tom Hagen – came home around 13.30 and notified the police just over half an hour later.
Only ten weeks later, on January 9, 2019, did the police go public and confirm that Anne-Elisabeth Hagen had disappeared from her home.
In the meantime, the police may have missed important tips, clues and witness observations.
Used SMS as evidence in court
According to the TV channel, the police secured the SMS message from Anne-Elisabeth Hagen early. This was also presented in court when the police tried to get Tom Hagen remanded in custody, charged with murder or complicity in the murder of his own wife.
In the current text message, the couple’s upcoming wedding day was the theme. Here, Anne-Elisabeth Hagen is said to have expressed disappointment over what she perceived as her husband’s labyrinthine response to celebrate the couple’s wedding day.
The couple was invited to dinner, but Tom Hagen is said to have shown little interest in this, she wrote in the SMS. She is also said to have said that she thought her husband might no longer be so happy with the cohabitation.
Defender believes everything was normal
However, this is rejected by Tom Hagen’s defender, lawyer Svein Holden. He believes the couple celebrated the day as normal.
– Tom and Anne-Elisabeth Hagen celebrated their wedding day with a good dinner with their daughter. Just over a week later, the couple had planned to go on holiday abroad to mark the day, Holden tells TV 2.
Tom Hagen himself has described the marriage as ordinary and good, and that he was sure that his wife did not want to divorce.
Man in his 30s still charged
A man in his 30s with a relationship to Tom Hagen was arrested on May 7 this year. The man was charged with murder or complicity in murder and has, according to the police, IT and cryptocurrency expertise.
He was later released after questioning, and the charges against him were changed to complicity in the aggravated imprisonment of Anne-Elisabeth Hagen.
Tom Hagen is still charged with the murder of his spouse for 49 years.
