WHO warns of nationalist vaccines, putting the world at risk of moral disaster.
World Health Organization (WHO) Director Tedros adhanam Gribeyesus at the opening of the WHO Executive Bireid said the world was at risk of moral failure. If rich countries stock up on the Covid-19 vaccine while poor countries don’t have it.
“I have to be honest. The world is at risk of moral failure. The lives and livelihoods of people in the poorest countries in the world have to suffer the consequences of this failure. ”
44 vaccine sales contracts were signed last year and at least 12 more this year.
Tedros said there were more than 39 million vaccinations in 49 wealthy countries, while only 25 were vaccinated in poor countries.
The WHO director also said: The nationalist vaccine also hinders the distribution of WHO’s COVAX program and brings to the fore situations that COVAX does not want, such as vaccine hoarding. In the end, these actions will keep the virus outbreak longer.
Tedros also blamed vaccine manufacturers for advancing approvals for vaccines in wealthy countries, rather than submitting information to the World Health Organization to approve a broader vaccine.
