Turkey is responsible for blocking tankers in the Turkey Strait. This was stated by Western officials quoted by the “Financial Times”.
They specified it most of the tankers stranded in the Black Sea come from Kazakhstan and are not covered by the price cap.
These disruptions are the result of Turkish governance, not the price cap policy, one of the officials stressed.
It became clear on Tuesday that about two dozen tankers with “stranded” in Turkish territorial watersas the Ankara authorities have asked insurers to confirm full insurance coverage following the introduction of a cap on Russian oil prices.
The EU’s decision to impose an embargo on oil supplies from Russia, which includes a mechanism for oil price ceilingentered into force on 5 December.
This mechanism includes prohibition for the provision of services for the transportation of Russian oil by sea, as well as for insurance, brokerage and financial operations services by companies in the EU, except when the sale of the energy resource at a price not exceeding a certain ceiling ($ 60 per barrel).
A similar ban was imposed by the G-7 countries: Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, Japan and the United States.
