The White House has reported Thursday the death of two important leaders of Al Qaeda, among them Qasim al-Rimi, founder and leader of the terrorist organization in the Arabian Peninsula.
“By order of President Trump, the United States conducted an anti-terrorist operation in Yemen that successfully eliminated Qasim al-Rimi, founder and al Qaeda leader“, the White House reported on its Twitter.
In the operation ordered by Trump Ayman al-Zawahiri, another of Al Qaeda’s commanding leaders, also died.
In a brief statement on its site, the White House reports that “Rimi joined Al Qaeda in the 1990s, working in Afghanistan to Osama bin Laden“.
He adds that Rimi led with Al Qaeda “an excessive violence against civilians in Yemen and tried to drive and inspire numerous attacks against the U.S and our forces. “
The United States considers that the death of Qasim al-Rimi “further degrades” Al Qaeda and “brings us closer to eliminating the threats that these groups represent for our national security.”
The US government warned that it will continue “protecting the American people tracking and eliminating terrorists who seek to harm us. “
