The Truth Behind the Supposed ‘Anti-Obesity Vaccine’ Promoted by Peruvian Reporter Katty Villalobos

This is not the first time that the supposed anti-obesity vaccine has been mentioned in Peru and other parts of South America, which at the beginning of this year was already declared ‘illegal’ in Colombia. However, a recent viral video on TikTok, by television reporter Katty Villalobos, who is promoting it, once again brought this delicate issue to the fore for the public health of millions of Peruvians.

“Listen to me, what I’m going to tell you is going to leave you totally surprised. Look where I am? I’m at Sumak Aesthetics. And do you know what I have come for today? They are going to give me the anti-obesity vaccine. “I’m not fat, but I’m chubby and I’ve always had problems with my weight,” says Villalobos in the clip, which already has almost two million views and at least 70,000 reactions on TikTok.

In that same video, the Peruvian reporter adds: “Today I am going to get this vaccine that I didn’t even know existed and that obviously has all the permits and certificates there have been and will be. So today I am going to experience the anti-obesity vaccine, here at Sumak Estética.”

The place you mention, Sumak Estética Integral, is a spa center located in an exclusive area of the Miraflores district. On its fanpage, the company gives a brief description: “We are specialists in body aesthetics and we have the most modern in cosmetic equipment.”

Villalobos does not appear alone in the video, but is shown in the company of “Elena Valverde Castillo.” “But let the specialists explain it to you, she is going to explain everything about this amazing vaccine,” says the reporter.

“Dear Katty, this is a completely natural vaccine, because it contains, nothing more, trace elements. You know that, sometimes, it is difficult to lose weight due to the amount of fluids we retain in our body. So this vaccine is responsible for entering your body intramuscularly to have that draining effect that helps us lose weight,” details Valverde Castillo.

The Sumak Estética Integral spa center, where the Peruvian reporter went, offers the ‘Anti-obesity Vaccine’ for 150 soles and guarantees the application of ‘100% natural trace elements’. (Capture)

Infobae Perú contacted the endocrinologist Romyna La Rosa Vasquez and the weight specialist nutritionist, Yácomo Casas, to delve into the topic and find out if there is this vaccine promoted on social networks and the one that has already captured the attention of hundreds of thousands of netizens with obesity problems.

In a categorical manner, the expert assured that there is no ‘vaccine against obesity’ and warned citizens to confirm with the appropriate specialists the substances they ingest or apply through injections.

“It is said in the video that natural trace elements are applied, which could be iron, phosphorus, potassium or other components, but these applied in excess can lead a person to poisoning,” he warned.

He also said that it could have even more serious consequences in pregnant women, in the fetus itself and in mothers who are breastfeeding, since everything is transmitted to the baby through milk.
