The Tragedy of a Boy Killed by Jazz Hit by a Driver Playing a Cell Phone

An unfortunate fate befell a 5-year-old girl in South Jakarta. The boy died when he was hit by a Honda Jazz driver.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday (14/6) at around 19.30 WIB on Jalan Pancoran Timur, South Jakarta. The victim was riding with his father at the time.

Honda Jazz car driver initials IAR (35) hit the motorbike the victim was riding from behind. The victim was then run over by the car.

The police then immediately arrested IAR. The driver was named a suspect in the deadly accident.

Jazz Driver Becomes a Suspect

Police have arrested IAR (35), the driver of the Honda Jazz car that hit the girl AAR (5) to death in Pancoran Timur, South Jakarta. Now IAR has been named a suspect.

“He has been named a suspect,” said the Head of Traffic and Traffic of the South Jakarta Metro Police AKP Sigit Prabowo when asked for confirmation, Friday (17/6).

Sigit said the suspect has now been detained at the South Jakarta Metro Police. IAR was charged with Article 310 paragraphs 3 and 4 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation.

Article 310 paragraph (3) reads:

“Everyone who drives a Motorized Vehicle due to his negligence causes a Traffic Accident with serious injuries as referred to in Article 229 paragraph (4), shall be sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of 5 (five) years and/or a maximum fine of Rp. 10,000,000.00 (ten million rupiah).”

Article 310 paragraph (4) reads:

“In the event of an accident as referred to in paragraph (3) which results in the death of another person, the punishment shall be a maximum imprisonment of 6 (six) years and/or a maximum fine of Rp. 12,000,000.00 (twelve million rupiahs).”

Driver Detained, Threatened With 6 Years in Prison

The police have named the driver of the Honda Jazz car with the initials IAR (35) who hit the girl with the initials AAR (5) to death in South Jakarta as a suspect. The driver has now been detained by the police.

“Detained, detention has been carried out. So, after being determined as a suspect, an examination is carried out, we will immediately arrest the suspect,” said Head of Laka Traffic Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police AKP Sigit when contacted, Saturday (6/18/2022).

The fatal accident occurred on Tuesday (14/6) at around 19.30 WIB. Sigit said the IAR driver was charged with Article 310 paragraphs 3 and 4 of the 2009 RI Law on Road Traffic and Transportation.

“From the article, the threat is 6 years in prison,” said Sigit.

The accident started when the perpetrator was playing with his cellphone while driving. See on the next page:
