The tragedy in Tromsø has been investigated

The case was completed in July and has now been sent to Attorney General Lars Fause, writes Northern Lights.

– It has been sent over with a recommendation from the police, and I will process it before it is sent on to the Attorney General for a final decision, Fause tells the newspaper.

The mother died together with two of her three children after they were found lifeless in the water outside Fagereng in Tromsø on 2 December 2019.

The 27-year-old Sudanese woman has been charged with murder and attempted murder as long as the investigation has been ongoing. She is charged with attempted murder of her youngest child, a one and a half year old girl, who was the only one of the four who saved her life.

The police have mapped the latest movements of the mother and the three children, but the public prosecutor says it is not certain that one will find out what happened or what was the motive for the action.

– If we believe that she is the one who killed them, then the case is dropped because the accused is dead. Then there will also be no criminal case, which usually provides answers to such things, says Fause to Nordlys.

He adds that it must be ruled out that others may be behind it, before the case can be closed.
