the tone rises between Trump and Bloomberg

Michael Bloomberg is a “loser”, Donald Trump a “fair clown” mocked by all: the tone mounts between the American president and the other billionaire presidential candidate 2020, in full rise in the polls.

The president, who hopes to be re-elected in November, has been attacking more and more for a few days on Twitter the ex-mayor of New York, whom he knows well and whom he nicknamed “Mini Mike” in reference to her size. “Mini Mike Bloomberg is a LOSER who has money, but cannot debate, and has no presence, you will see,” Donald Trump tweeted Thursday. “Mini Mike is a dead weight of 1.63 m who does not want to debate on the platform with professional politicians,” he added.

Trump had previously accused Michael Bloomberg of racism on Tuesday, retweeting an excerpt from a 2015 recording in which the former New York mayor justified his controversial policy of police checks focused on minorities. A policy that he has long justified, before apologizing in November, just before embarking on the Democratic race.

Bloomberg, one of the world’s wealthiest men, responded on Thursday with his own vengeful tweet against Donald Trump. “@RealDonaldTrump – we know a lot of people in common in New York. Behind your back, they laugh at you and call you a fair clown, ”he wrote. “They know you inherited your fortune and spoiled it with your stupid plans and incompetence. I have the experience and the resources to beat you. And I will beat you ”.

This exchange of courtesies comes as Mr. Bloomberg, who is already beating all records for advertising spending for an American presidential election, with more than 260 million dollars spent, climbs in the polls.

Average national polls now place it third for the Democratic nomination, behind Senator Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden.

Michael Bloomberg is also increasingly targeted by his Democratic rivals, who accuse him of wanting to “buy the election”. The multi-billionaire chose not to participate in the first four votes of the Democratic primary, which provide a negligible number of delegates for the convention which will appoint in July the opponent of Donald Trump. He is currently focusing on the 14 states that will vote on “Super Tuesday” on March 3, including Texas and California, which elect the largest number of delegates.
