“This is the second edition of the Itinerant Theater and Human Rights Cycle. The first was in 2017, last year we started the second but we had to interrupt it due to the pandemic and we resumed it in 2021. The cycle aims to generate different instances of debate and reflection on human rights in the different towns of Entre Ríos, whose triggers they are plays and also other artistic and pedagogical activities such as talks, conferences, always trying to articulate them with educational institutions of different levels, with official organizations, libraries, and with other groups and groups ”, Nadia Grandón, from Teatro del Bard.

One of the main objectives of this cycle is to establish itself as a link between the training entities and the makers of cultural products in the country, in order to facilitate the members of the educational communities to experience art.

Weekend at pure theater

During March the 2021 Theater Season continues at the Escuela del Bardo (Almafuerte 104 bis, Paraná), with a weekend with excellent proposals. From Concordia to Paraná, the theater talks about the history of Entre Ríos and its leaders. Cuenca will be presented tonight. Everything below, which brings a reminiscence of Melchora Cuenca; and her husband will be referred to by Artigas, the other, who can be seen tomorrow. Both functions will be at 22.

“This weekend we were joined by these two activities that are part of the artiguista universe. We released Artigas, the other at the end of 2019 and due to the pandemic we could not present it again. All this knowing in parallel the creative process that Marta Cot carried out in Concordia with Cuenca. Everything below. So we thought it was good to get together on a federal weekend, “actor Juan Kohner, a member of Teatro del Bardo, told Escenario.

Basin. Everything Below premiered in July 2019 at Concordia. Its filmmakers took as inspiration the figure of Melchora Cuenca (1790-1870), lancer of the League of Free People, teacher, wife of General José Gervasio Artigas. Melchora Cuenca is one of the many women, of whom there are few references in official history, who was part of the League of Free Peoples, fighting for the independence of America. The work links the history of women and men who lived on both banks of the Uruguay River.

It has the presence of Marta Cot, in performance, and Olga Lucía Salamanca, performing live music and sound stages. In addition to the staging, there is an installation on historical aspects and the creative process, which the public can access before and after witnessing the performance.

Meanwhile, Artigas, the other, begins with two softies who enter the scene with the urn of Artigas’s remains. Are waiting. Their only task is to move and take care of the urn and the remains until the history teacher who will give the talk arrives; but tired of always doing the anteroom, Francisco and Gervasio, the guards, timidly begin to give their own class. They wonder: Who writes history? Does it matter who tells it? What would be the flags that José Gervasio Artigas would raise today?

To reserve tickets for these functions it is necessary to contact the phone (0343) 154565942. Capacity is limited.
