The police of New York stopped a man who pushed a woman onto the subway tracks when a train arrived at the station Union Square Thursday morning.
Miraculously, the victim, in his 40s, alone suffered minor injuries since she managed to lie down between the tracks and avoided being run over. Two carriages passed over her before the train stopped.
The attack, which occurred around 8:45 a.m., was recorded by security cameras. The video shows the suspect standing on the platform when suddenly run and push a woman I was waiting near the tracks for the approaching subway.
The assailant was identified as Aditya Vemulapati, a 24-year-old homeless man. He immediately turned himself in to a subway controller, who held him until the police arrived, while firefighters helped the victim off the tracks and took her to a hospital. According to authorities, he only suffered minor injuries.
