The Swedish squad for the Para WC has been released

The Para WC in Östersund will start on January 20, 2023 with an opening ceremony. It is now clear which three skaters the home crowd will cheer for during the championship.

Zebastian Modin, deserved at the World Cup, who has already won six medals at the World Cup, is the veteran of the team. In addition to WC medals, he also has eight Paralympic medals.

– Zebastian is unique. He broke through in 2010 and has never had a bad season since then, I am deeply impressed by his determination and desire to always improve. In the preseason he showed that he has taken further steps in his skating, if everything is correct he will fight for medals in Östersund, says Swedish national team captain Leif Larsson in the press release.

Selected 16-year-old rookie

Modin is joined by two newcomers to the squad, namely Louise Perottosdotter, 25, and Ellen Westerlund, 16. Westerlund made her World Cup debut in mid-December.

– Ellen is a name from the future. She made it to the sprint final in her World Cup debut and showed great skills in no time. She has just started ski school in Lycksele and it will be exciting to follow her development over the next few years. We have to remember that both girls are league rookies and this will be an important experience for their future development, says Larsson.

The championship airs on SVT.
