The suspended line stopped trains at Prague’s main railway station

According to the Railway Administration, the traction line was sagged at the Central Station from 12:20. “Currently, our technicians are there to check his condition,” a spokesman for the organization said.

He added that the station is now without power. He could not estimate how long the transport would last.

The power outage affected regional and long-distance connections on the lines from Prague to Beroun, Kolín, Benešov and Lysá nad Labem.

The connections between the Main Railway Station and the Prague-Vršovice Railway Station were renounced.

The operation at the main railway station was partially resumed around 1 pm, on the busy line from Prague to Beroun about two hours later.

There are trains to Beroun

The operation of trains in the direction of Beroun was stopped in the afternoon by the fire of the substation in Chuchle. Firefighters liquidated the power station fire in Paroplavební Street, they had to use breathing equipment.

According to the preliminary estimate of the investigators, the damage amounted to several tens of millions of crowns.

“The fire shut down the power station and stopped operation on line 171 in the area of Chuchle and Smíchovské nádraží,” said firefighter spokesman Martin Kavka.

Firefighters and police also had to relocate about 75 passengers on the track in Strakonická Street, where a train got stuck due to a power failure. The railways provided spare buses.
