The story of a corpse that wakes up when it is about to be autopsied, 3 doctors are confused

ASTURIAS, KOMPAS.com – On January 7 2018, a prisoner in Spanish who was declared dead by three doctors suddenly woke up during an autopsy.

This incident was experienced by Gonzalo Montoya Jimenez, an inmate at the high-security Central Correctional Institution in Asturias, Spain. At that time he was 29 years old.

Jimenez was arrested for robbery. He was found unconscious in his cell when called in the morning, then transferred to the hospital morgue.

The chronology of Jimenez’s “corpse” awoke

Jimenez was initially examined by two doctors on duty at the prison, after he was found sitting unconscious in his cell chair with no signs of violence.

Feeling no vital signs, doctors declared him dead, and an hour later a forensic doctor examined Jimenez’s body. He agreed with the first evaluation and issued a third death report.

It was only later in the morgue that the doctors realized something was seriously wrong.

Quoted from Science Alert on Friday (4/2/2022), Jimenez was then put in a cold storage room to help preserve his body. The skin was marked with a scalpel in preparation for autopsy quick.

“Forensic doctors started hearing voices coming from inside the bag. Montoya is not dead. Quite the opposite,” media reports. The Spanish at that time.

Jiménez was then transferred under guard by ambulance to another hospital, and was eventually reported to be in stable condition.
