From September 30 to October 6, exactly 641 people tested positive in Limburg, 222 more than the week before (+53 percent). Although Limburg remains the best corona student in class, we see that the spread of the virus is also accelerating in us. The so-called R-value is today 1.46, which means that 100 patients infect an average of 146 other people. That is the highest reproduction number in Limburg since the start of the new school year. The positivity rate (the percentage of positive tests) increases from 3.8 to 4.3 percent. After West Flanders, this is still the lowest positivity ratio in the country.

5,000 infections per day

Across Belgium, an average of 3,275 new infections per day was added between September 30 and October 6. More than 5,000 new cases were reported last Monday and Tuesday. An average of 107 (+56 percent) people are now hospitalized every day and 13 people die every day from the coronavirus (+65 percent). There are currently 1,188 corona patients in Belgian hospitals, more than 50 percent more than the week before. In Limburg, 42 patients with Covid-19 are in hospital, 7 of whom require intensive care.
