The Situation in Frankfurt and Offenbach Amidst Hamas’ Calls for Attacks on Jewish Lives Worldwide

The terrorist organization Hamas is calling for attacks on Jewish lives worldwide on Friday (October 13th). What is the situation in Frankfurt and Offenbach?

Frankfurt – Hamas has called for attacks on Jewish life worldwide on Friday (October 13th). The one called out “Friday of the Al-Aqsa Flood” is intended to support the Palestinian people. Because of fears of violence by Hamas supporters against Jewish institutions, Israel is calling on its citizens abroad to be vigilant. “It can be assumed that there will be protest events in various countries that could turn violent,” warned the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the National Security Council on Thursday evening (October 12). They advised Israelis to stay away from demonstrations.

“Protection is guaranteed” – the situation in the Rhine-Main area was quiet on Friday

What does it look like in the Rhine-Main area? No events – demonstrations or rallies – related to the Middle East conflict have been registered for Friday in Offenbach, as a police spokesman said when asked. The protection of Jewish life and Jewish institutions is generally high in Hesse anyway. In addition to synagogues, kindergartens and schools would also be protected – and not just on Jewish holidays. “Protection is guaranteed,” emphasized the spokesman. In addition, the security situation is constantly monitored and measures are adjusted accordingly. “We are monitoring the situation very closely,” said the spokesman. Not only, but now even more so because of developments in the Middle East, it was said.

There are no protests related to the Middle East war scheduled for Friday in Frankfurt either, as the police said upon request. It was different in Kassel, where a pro-Palestinian demonstration with a rally was scheduled to take place in front of the town hall on Friday. The city of Kassel canceled this event in consultation with the Hessian Ministry of the Interior for security reasons. According to the police, there have been no anti-Semitic attacks on the “Day of Hate” in Frankfurt and Offenbach.

However, violent scenes broke out in Frankfurt on Saturday (October 7) after hundreds of people gathered in front of the Römer to protest against Hamas’ terror in Israel. People dressed in black appeared, tore Israeli flags out of the demonstrators’ hands and insulted them. A man sprayed pepper spray. Eight people were hit, one man fell and suffered a laceration to his head. (cas/fd)
