The 51-year-old man who shot his ex-girlfriend in a hairdressing salon in the center of Sofia has been detained in the area of ​​the train station in Ruse, the press center of the Ministry of Interior announced.

He will remain in custody until tomorrow, when he will be escorted to Sofia. The materials in the case are to be reported to the prosecutor’s office, which will decide whether and what charges to bring against him.

The shooting happened around 12 o’clock. The 51-year-old man, who is a criminal and has a restraining order forbidding him from approaching his ex-girlfriend Fanny, enters the hairdressing salon where she works armed. He raised his pistol in front of colleagues and clients at the gym, shot her several times.

“In principle, he has a restraining order issued given previous conflicts between them. On the same occasion, some time ago pre-trial proceedings were instituted against him for violating this restrictive order,” explained the head of the First Police Department, Commissioner Ivaylo Velichkov.

After the attack, the shot Fanny managed to escape from the hairdresser’s and hide in a nearby grocery store. The 55-year-old woman was transported and placed for treatment at the Military Medical Academy. She was shot in the left temple and the left palm, as doctors removed two bullets from both wounds. The victim is in stable condition and her life is not in danger.

Her colleagues say that the conflicts between her and her ex-boyfriend have been going on for years. Fanny was systematically threatened, for which she reported to the police, but to no avail.

The area around Lyuben Karavelov Street remained cordoned off for hours. A controlled explosion was heard in the afternoon.

“The perpetrator had abandoned a backpack with unknown contents, there were some doubts and a controlled explosion had to be carried out. There were clothes inside,” Ivaylo Velichkov explained.
