It was November 10th, 2018: one day before the start of the fifth season on November 11th. Dynamo suffered the worst defeat in the club’s history in the carnival stronghold of Cologne, losing 1:8 at FC.
Markusbeginn (49), who coached the Cologne team at the time, remembers: “If you play a game like that in Cologne the day before the start of the session, then at least at that time you did everything right for one day.”

November 10th, 2023: Exactly five years later, Dynamo is now heading back to Cologne. This time to Viktoria, who are still unbeaten at home this season!

Beginning doesn’t believe it. “It was a unique story,” he explains. “We will do everything we can to get the points with Dynamo Dresden now.”
Because this time, the beginning is on the sidelines of the Black and Yellows and returns to his hometown as the third division leaders.

The Cologne native doesn’t waste any thought on the table. “We will not go there to defend our position,” he says. “We generally don’t go out to defend anything. We go out there to win games.”
And then Beginn adds: “If you win, it is inevitable that this will be reflected in the table.”
