The Republic of Moldova Receives 200,000 Doses of Influenza Vaccine for Priority Groups: Ministry of Health

The Republic of Moldova received a batch of 200 thousand doses of influenza vaccine procured from the sources of the prophylaxis measures fund of the National Medical Insurance Company. The batch is to be distributed in the medical and sanitary institutions in the country according to the existing immunization plans, reports IPN.

According to the Ministry of Health, the vaccine was stored under safe conditions in the National Vaccine Warehouse of the National Agency for Public Health.

Professional contingents and groups at increased risk of getting sick with the flu will be immunized with the respective vaccine, as a matter of priority: people with chronic diseases and compromised immunity, the elderly, pregnant women, medical workers and employees of force structures, etc.

The Ministry states that the flu vaccination can be carried out simultaneously with the vaccination against the COVID-19 infection and that the vaccination is the safest and most effective method of preventing illnesses caused by the flu.

Vaccination against the flu contributes to reducing the risk of developing severe forms of the disease, preventing complications, hospitalization and deaths caused by the flu, states the Ministry of Health.
