JAKARTA KOMPAS.com – Fifth generation network technology aka 5G officially present in Indonesia since 2021. Even though it’s been a year, 5G coverage in the country is still limited in a number of locations and the distribution is not evenly distributed.
In a face-to-face interview with journalists Kompas.comYudha Pratomo, Monday (4/7/2022), TM Roh believes that Samsung devices will later become the first choice for people, along with the expansion of 5G network access.
“Although currently the 5G network in Indonesia is still limited, we know that consumers are increasingly using smartphone, with longer device life. We are committed to ensuring that consumers in Indonesia can take advantage of 5G as soon as possible after the infrastructure is expanded,” said TM Roh.
He added that the GSMA predicts 5G networks will cover one-fourth of global cellular connections by 2025.
To anticipate this, he emphasized that Samsung has worked closely with regulators and operators in Indonesia to prepare for the commercial availability of 5G in the future.
“Currently, 5G in Indonesia is available in more than 40 access points in 28 cities for Indonesian businesses. The regulatory process is also continuously being deployed so that 5G spectrum is available to more consumers,” concluded TM Roh.
The 5G network in Indonesia is only available in a number of areas. That too only at a certain point. Until the end of 2021, 5G will only be available in the Greater Jakarta area, Bandung, Batam, Balikpapan, Makassar, Denpasar, Surabaya, to Medan.
The government will also present this fifth generation network in priority tourist destinations. Other areas that will be able to enjoy 5G are the locations of manufacturing industries and the capital cities of new countries.
