For football officials, it might be better if, at least for some time, some clubs were banned from visiting guests. The president of the FC Spartak Trnava football club, Peter Macho, stated this at Tuesday’s meeting of the Committee of the National Council of the Slovak Republic for Education, Science, Youth and Sport, which dealt with the measures needed to increase safety at sporting events.

Macho thinks he could be inspired by the example of the Netherlands and the situation between fans of Feyenoord Rotterdam and Ajax Amsterdam. “Maybe for some two or three years, there could be a ban so that Slavs cannot go to Trnava and vice versa,” he said that the necessary stricter legislation was needed during the transitional period.
Macho has repeatedly denied that derby riots have been initiated by fans of the home team. According to him, flares, which were supposed to initiate further events and violence at the stadium, were thrown by fans of whites. “We have shy things that fans waited for the 12th minute to start throwing flares from the guest sector, I don’t know why the Slavs took red-black flares,” he said.
He admitted that there were also Spartak supporters above the guest sector, who hung the Always Above You banner. “We know it was our boys, we want to find out who it was, because if some 15-year-old boys get persuaded to climb up the hotel to the Lexan, where they can fall and kill other people, it’s dangerous.” said Macho.
Owner Slovana Ivan Kmotrík ml. he was absent from the committee’s deliberations. The chairman of the parliamentary committee, Richard Vašečka (OĽANO), informed that from the information provided, Kmotrík should have stated that he did not know about the meeting. “We officially sent the invitation, but I don’t want to say that Mr. Godfather had no will to come,” said Vašečka.
The parliamentary committee was convened in response to the events of the Trnava – Slovan football derby, which did not take place on October 17. After less than a quarter of an hour, the referee had to interrupt him, as rioters ran into the field and there were physical confrontations between them. There were also injuries. After the meeting, the police announced that the order for the intervention of the security forces came late from the organizer.
