The Port: his wife wants to kick him out, angry, he drinks rum and beats her until she bleeds

On Sunday 24 October around 5 pm, the drunk Jean-Pierre beat his partner in the face with his fists and feet until he bled. The police intervene and interrogate the individual. Judged in the court of Saint-Denis this Friday, he claims to have “slapped” his partner, because she does not stop screaming and that she wanted to chase him out of her.

Around 5 pm on Monday 24 October, the police intervened for a marital dispute in the Port. Arriving at the scene, a woman with a bloody mouth, bruises on her body as well as on her head asks for help. Jean-Pierre, her partner for two years, beat her violently with more than 2g of alcohol in her blood at the time of the accident.

He will be arrested, placed in police custody and in pre-trial detention until Friday, when he was tried in the Saint-Denis court.

Victim was given a total of 10 days of ITT. She will explain, during her audition with the police, that she wanted him to leave his apartment.

“They were just slaps”

Jean-Pierre, 54, on leave at the time of the events, told the court that he drank rum to decompress: “It was to be decompressed, my wife and I drink often there is nothing wrong”, He explains.

“Nothing wrong in your opinion? A month ago you beat your spouse in the same circumstances. Against the victim”says the president.

In total, Jean-Pierre has more than 7 convictions for violence. According to the Deputy Prosecutor: “In 2016 you beat your father and in 2012 you also attacked a blind man. It is not the first time”.

Despite his criminal record, Jean-Pierre denies having beaten his wife, but merely “slaps” her to stop her screaming: “She’s a liar, I just slapped and pinched her mouth, nothing more. She wants to kick me out while I was leaving my apartment to be with her.” LThe deputy prosecutor then asks him : “How do you explain that Madame has head injuries, bruises in different parts of her body, a fractured jaw and loose teeth?”.

Without any response, the Public Prosecutor will ask for an 18-month prison sentence with imprisonment and a ban on contacting the victim.

For the defense, Jean-Pierre cannot explain his actions because he does not remember anything with alcohol: “Mr. didn’t even sign in during his audition, he doesn’t remember much with almost 2g of alcohol in his blood. So we’re going to put him in jail for 18 months and that’s it? No, you have to reach out and get him to follow him.”

After a few minutes of deliberation, the court will follow the requisitions of the magistrate and will sentence him to 18 months of imprisonment, continued detention and prohibition of contact with the victim for 2 years.
