The police are aiming at a powerful judge: Berbr’s “scout” is both a police officer and a politician

When detectives went into the field last Friday to detain suspicious football buffs and referees, they had to pay attention to one of the targets. Judge Robert Hájek (44) is not only a football referee, but also a police officer.

Under normal circumstances, he would be detained by a police team from Brno. However, there was a fear that as an instructor of the Brno intervention, information about the start of the operation from colleagues would not reach him in advance. According to sources in the List of Reports of Close Investigations, Hájek was taken care of by detectives who had to come from Olomouc.

Hájka can be described as an active officer in the police. For example, he is a member of the executive committee of the Kometa Brno Police Sports Club and is the head of the Brno section of the International Police Association, which is the largest international association of police officers.

What he will not be proud of now, however, is the fact that Robert Hájek has become one of 20 accused persons (led by Roman Berbr, now former vice-president of the Football Association), who are being prosecuted by the police on suspicion of bribery or embezzlement.

Hajek’s name attracts attention. Not only because – as has already been said – he is a police officer and a controversial referee, but according to the findings, the List of Reports is also about politics.

Referee under a magnifying glass

But first, let’s look at what the police blame him for. In June 2019, under the magnifying glass of detectives, there was a third-league match between Sokol Živanice and Slavoj Vyšehrad (he finished 1: 2). Hájek managed the match, which had a pre-arranged scenario. And according to the police, not for free.

“In front of the main entrance to the FACR headquarters, Roman Rogoz handed over to Robert Hájek in the form of cash in the amount of at least CZK 100,000, which Robert Hájek accepted as a reward for influencing the match, on the way to Jan Hořejší, secretary of the Steering Committee for the Czech Republic,” she wrote. police according to Lidové noviny in the text of the commencement of criminal prosecution.

Hájek contacted the list of messages. He picked up the phone, but did not leave questions about the accusation and his career. “I cannot comment on that. I’m neither justified nor willing to do that, do you understand me? ”Hájek proceeded and hung up.

On the lawn, in the office

Hájek’s home district is South Moravia, specifically the village of Rajhradice with 1,500 inhabitants not far from Brno. Hájek can be one of the important residents who participate in the running of the village – both politically and sports.

In 2018, Hájek ran for the group Rajhradice Pro Municipality, for which he joined the council and subsequently the village council.

What does his political boss say about his case, in which the police suspect him of manipulating the fight for a fee? However, he refused to answer the question whether he would demand Hájek’s resignation. “I will not comment on that at all. Goodbye, “said the mayor of Rajhradice, Luboš Přichystal.

Robert Hájek has the keys not only from the local municipal office, but also from the Rajhrad football locker rooms and offices. He works as a vice-chairman in the TJ Rajhradice club, which leads the group A class A standings table in the South Moravian Region.

His arrival in Rajhradice in 2010 is connected by the locals with the start of the successful era of the Rajhradice club, which gradually made its way from fourth to first grade. “The newly immigrated Robert Hájek then joined these local players and together they agreed that they would try to get Rajhrad football back into the subconscious of people in the village and other teams,” appreciates Rajhrad’s Hájek acquisitions.

Shocking transition

He drew attention to himself in public mainly as a football referee – which is why he is now being prosecuted by the police.

According to statistics, he whistled six matches in the first league, as a boundary referee he intervened in 84 matches. He got it for mistakes past the stop sign for several matches. From 2016 to 2017, in the role of the main referee, he participated in 20 matches of the Moravian-Silesian Football League (3rd highest competition), but three years ago he had to pack from here.

“In the winter at the turn of 2017 and 2018, a new panel of judges had to be named. I had the analyzes carried out, which showed that some of the judges, under the leadership of the then chairman of the jury, Oldřich Rack, were much exploited and benefited. A new panel of judges was formed with new members, and the lists of judges and delegates were exchanged. People like Robert Hájek did not appear on them anymore. With the fact that they did not trust the new commission, to put it bluntly. This ended Mr. Hájek’s work in Moravia, “recalls Pavel Nezval, Chairman of the Steering Committee for Moravia.

According to his words, he was not surprised when he found out that after the “Moravian exit”, Hájek, as a referee, got caught in the Czech branch of the third highest competition – the so-called Czech Football League (ČFL).

“Suddenly I found out that he whistles to the CFL and is the chairman of the referee committee in the Pardubice region, headed by Mr. Blaschke. I find it astonishing, I’m really surprised, because Mr. Hájek is from Brno. As if we were marrying someone from Pilsen here in South Moravia. Certainly Mr. Hájek did not get to the Pardubice region by pure chance, because he had been eliminated in Moravia before that. In the end, he is now one of 20 accused, “said Nezval’s News Report, who is a member of the National Executive Committee of the Football Association.

“The person of this referee shows a considerable amount of controversy. If, as a former league referee, he was transferred to the structures of Moravian competitions, there was dissatisfaction with him as well. Surprisingly, he subsequently moved to the Pardubice Region, where he became chairman of the referees’ commission and a person who actively participated in CFL matches. I also know that he was very focused on his club in Rajhradice, “said Vladimír Kristýn, chairman of the Football Association in the South Moravian Region.

Hájka is considered by South Moravian officials, with whom List of Reports have spoken in recent days, to be a man who spread Roman Berbr’s influence in the Moravian regions, who have long been opposed to the de facto ruler of domestic football. Judges Oldřich Racek and Ondřej Pelikán are to be Hájek’s close allies in South Moravia (they did not respond to questions from the editors regarding their relationship with Hájek).

“Certainly the group around Hájek and Racka spread Berbr’s influence. As for Mr. Pelikán, the panel of judges recently transferred him to the division and he gave up his activities, he no longer works on our documents, “added the head of the Steering Committee for Moravia Nezval.

The fact that Hájek was stuck in police forceps cost this judge the position of chairman of the Pardubice jury. Michal Blaschke, the head of the East Bohemian region, did not consider Hájek to be heading into the Pardubice region with a shell of expulsion from southern Moravia as a complication.

“He asked us if he could whistle with us. So we complied. We have few judges, so Chinese judges came to us from Brno and studied there. He was not the only one who came to us from Brno. Even from the Vysočina region, they whistled here, but we will not hinder anyone, “said Blaschke, a member of the FACR Executive Committee, who is considered a close ally of Roman Berbr, told the List of Reports.

It is said that Blaschke was very surprised that Hájek was stuck in a bribery net. “I know nothing about it. Mr. Hájek told me that he had been charged and that he would wait for the result. I was surprised it happened. Take that he has been working for the police for x years, no one expected that such a situation could occur, “he added.
