The Plovdiv Traffic Police fined a driver who survived the fiery hell near Corfu

The head of the transport company Ilian Filipov is ready to pay any fines to his drivers.

His name is not on the list of victims, police said

A Plovdiv driver, who survived the nightmare of the burning ferry near Corfu, was fined BGN 30 by the Traffic Police for lost documents. This was confirmed to “24 Chasa” by the driver himself, who asked not to mention his name.

“I went to the traffic police to get new documents, as the old ones were burned in the fire, and they told me that according to the procedure, they had to draw up an act for me,” the circulator explained. He added that he had been asked to obtain a document from the area where the fire broke out. However, the driver refused to return to Greece and expressed readiness to pay the sanction.
The Plovdiv police announced that they had received a list of drivers from the burned ferry near Corfu. The name of this driver did not appear in it and for this reason an act was imposed on him. An additional investigation into the case has been requested. If it is proved that the sanctioned driver is among the victims of the fire, the act will be revoked.
Drivers were urged when they went to the traffic police counters to immediately announce that they were among the victims of the ferry fire, in order to speed up the issuance of their new documents.

“I was surprised by the fine of our driver. The amount is not large, but the issue is fundamental. The state should cooperate, not punish them. I will pay this fine, as well as possible new sanctions, as the boys must have documents and work “, commented the owner of the Plovdiv transport Ilian Filipov, whose trucks burned on board.

He expects the last Plovdiv driver Alexi Penev to return to Plovdiv within hours, who was blocked on the burning vessel and taken out. Penev spent two days in a Greek hospital. His condition is already good. According to the initial information, the damage suffered by the Plovdiv transport company is between BGN 15 and 20 million, after 32 of its trucks with goods burned on the ferry.
