The Nutty Professor reboot in the making | NOW

The Nutty Professor, a 1963 comedy classic re-released in the 1990s starring Eddie Murphy, is getting a reboot, reports Deadline Monday.

The film will be produced by the same team behind Scream 5. At the moment there are no directors or actors associated with the project yet.

The original Nutty Professor – starring Jerry Lewis – is about a nerdy professor who, in order to improve his love life, drinks a drink that temporarily turns him into the handsome but annoying Buddy Love.

The film was remade in 1996. In this, Murphy played not only the professor and his alter ego Love, but also five family members of the professor. That movie was a huge hit and got a sequel The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, which came out in 2000.
