The number of hospitalized patients with coronavirus is increasing in the Czech Republic

The Prague hospitals that addressed the News have enough beds available for potential patients.

“We have 20 beds available for infection, 40 beds are ready for pneumology for oxygen therapy. If the number of patients who needed artificial lung ventilation exceeded 20, we would reopen the covid unit with 20 beds, ”said Pavlína Danková, spokeswoman for the Motol Hospital. She added that in the event of a crisis, the hospital can prepare another 140 to 160 beds for difficult patients within a week.

The hospital currently has 12 patients with covid-19, two of whom are connected to artificial lung ventilation.

Six patients with covid-19 are located in the General University Hospital (VFN) on Charles Square. According to spokeswoman Marie Heřmánková, the hospital does not yet reserve special beds for those infected.

The number of positive patients is currently on the rise, but so far there are no dramatic increases.

spokesman of the Thomayer Hospital Petr Sulek

“We will test a patient whose condition requires admission to hospital and at the same time shows signs of a possible covid-19 infection. We have the results within the hour, and according to them we will place him in the appropriate department according to his diagnosis, ”she added.

A spokesman for Thomayer Hospital, Petr Sulek, stated that 14 patients with covid-19 are now hospitalized in Krč, three of whom are due to the more difficult course of the ARO.

“We now have seven ventilated beds in the ARO department and approximately 18 beds in the lung clinic for positive patients,” he added.

“We can confirm that the number of positive patients has a certain upward trend at the moment, but there are no dramatic increases so far,” Sulek added.

The situation is similarly calm in other regions. “Compared to the situation in the spring, the proportion of people in need of hospitalization is significantly lower and cases with symptoms of mild respiratory infection or completely asymptomatic clearly predominate,” said Renata Ciupek, director of the anti-epidemic department of the South Moravian Hygiene Station.

Of the 41 hospitalized in the region, eight are in serious condition, 12 in moderate, 21 are mild and two are asymptomatic.
