China reported 71 more deaths throughout Monday’s day and 508 new cases of infection.

These figures represent a 24% increase in new cases compared to the previous day, although the good news is that it reduces the number of deaths recorded on Monday by more than 52% compared to Sunday.

The accumulated number of deaths so far in China stands at 2,663 and the number of confirmed cases, at 77,658, according to the latest balance sheet offered by the National Health Commission, updated until last midnight local time (GMT Monday 16.00).

Of the total confirmed cases, 47,672 are still active. More than 9,100 patients are in serious condition.

In total 27,323 people have been discharged after overcoming the disease.

To date, more than 640,000 people who had close contact with the infected have been followed up, of which almost 88,000 are still under observation.

Although more than thirty countries have cases diagnosed with COVID-19, China accounts for around 97% of those infected.
