In the real atmosphere of a jazz club, VEF Culture Palace has started the new concert season. American jazz pianist Inspired by Bill Evans music, local high-profile musicians gave a live concert on August 13. –

Just as on the evening of March 10, after the concert, the inscription “VEF Jazz Club” was lifted and stored in the VEF Culture Palace, so it remained unchanged for 5 months. And on the evening of August 13, it could shine again at the opening of the new concert season of VEF Culture Palace.

In front of the listeners of the sold-out concert, musicians Evilena Protektore, Krists Saržants, Toms Poišs and Kaspars Kurdeko are at an unprecedented distance. This time – inspired by the US-born jazz pianist and composer Bill Evans.

Composer and pianist Kristi Saržants talks about Bill Evans: encountered his work, and I don’t really know anyone it wouldn’t have caught. And that’s basically its inspiration. In any case, in my play, in my compositions, Bill Evans has clearly been one of the main sources of inspiration in terms of sound for a very long time. ”

Meanwhile, jazz singer Evilena Protektore emphasizes that Evans’ music is unique:

“It is both challenging in terms of music, in theory, and full of such lyricism and feelings. Just wonderful music. ”

The opening of the new concert season of VEF Culture Palace was also welcomed by the concert visitors.

“Today was a very wonderful evening with Evilen [..] it is our star. The star of Latvia. One of the most beloved people in our Latvia. It is good that she was the first to open this upcoming season, ”note the visitors of the concert Nadezhda and Vladislav.

In turn, the concert attendee Vita reveals:

“I found out about the concert literally yesterday, listening to Classical Radio, where there was an interview, and on the way, before listening to the interview, I realized I wanted to come and I’m glad I did, and I’m interested in learning more about this wonderful composer.”

This is the third season of the Jazz Club at VEF Culture Palace, says Antra Dreģe, VEF Culture Palace project manager. So far, 5 to 8 concerts a year have taken place.

“For us, VEF Culture Palace, this is a special year – we have an anniversary – 60 years. Of course, the plans at the beginning of the year were grand, as we will celebrate it, we created a new brand for the events organized by VEF Culture Palace and a wonderful visual image of everything that is produced from the castle itself. And it has remained at the level of a dream for us now, and now the season has opened, only now with this concert, and in the future, of course, we have to deal with all the postponed events, and of course we are planning new ones, ”says Dreģe.

VEF Kultūras pils promises to reveal more details about the anniversary concert at the end of October, and jazz lovers can also include two dates in their calendars in the autumn. However, the unpredictability of life and the ability to adapt to unexpected situations with humor was also reminded by a successfully resolved incident during the concert, when suddenly an alarm sounded in the hall and some of the listeners stayed on the other side of the curtain.
