The Neuchâtel administration of the future centralized on two poles

The State of Neuchâtel will undergo a profound change during the next four years. It intends to completely rethink its operation by regrouping a majority of its administration on two poles, as the Council of State announced on Wednesday. With this project, already approved by the Grand Council, the Canton is aiming for more rationality, better accessibility to the public and better working conditions for its staff, notably through the development of shared workspaces in brand new premises.

Tivoli and the Forges retained

The state has defined two sites for the project. In Neuchâtel, the Tivoli sector, in the Serrières district, will host the “Social Health” and “Mobility” skills centers.

In La Chaux-de-Fonds, the Îlot-Vert, located near Espacité will house the administration as an extension of the Tax Service already installed nearby.

The “Culture and heritage” and “Employment and training” skills centers have been selected for the watchmaking metropolis. A new building will also be built on the site of the current Coop warehouses at rue du Commerce 100, near the Forges train station, which will be inaugurated at the end of the year. Note that the site is also called upon to house the cantonal archives in another building. The project will go before the Grand Council during the March session.

Overall, La Chaux-de-Fonds will see the arrival of seven new services from Neuchâtel, while the Prosecution and Bankruptcy Service will leave the watchmaking metropolis and Cernier for the cantonal capital.

The first moves are planned for next year for the sites of the green island and Tivoli, for the migration and contributions services. The new building in La Chaux-de-Fonds, called “Les Docks”, should be operational in 2025. / lre
