If you like the design of the Mac Pro, but not its price, you can easily create a PC – and why not a hackintosh … – using a case that resembles that of Apple. As of fall, the Dune Pro offered a pretty perfect imitation, at least from the front panel, but this metal case is a high-end product, in pre-order for 250 €.
At CES, we discover another model inspired by the Mac Pro, at a much more reasonable price. The MetallicGear Neo Pro will indeed be sold for $ 59 (around € 53). At this price, no miracle, the grille with a hole in the front is made of plastic. Forget also the feet with integrated steel handles, it is in fact a very common case, with glass on the sides and optional LED fans.
The result may be an illusion from afar, but you can quickly see the differences with the Apple case. The price has nothing to do with it at the same time, so it’s normal, and the manufacturer highlights very good air circulation while maintaining good silence in operation. This is exactly the same argument put forward by the Cupertino company to justify the particular design of the grille at the front:
Unlike the Mac Pro, the Neo Pro even has a dust filter behind the grille. It is not known when this new product will be marketed, but the MetallicGear range is for sale on Amazon, which should allow amateurs to buy it easily.
