The mother of a 21-year-old girl found dead at home believes her daughter was murdered and that it was not a suicide – a cause of death raised by the police. The mother of Marta Fernandes, who was an employee of a cosmetics store in Saldanha, explained to “Morning mail”That the daughter was“ happy ”, that she had dreams and liked to work and that the hypothesis of suicide does not make sense. “My daughter’s death was a crime,” he says.
Marta was found on the morning of June 16 hanging from a hanger on her bedroom door by her father. He went to his youngest daughter’s house, in Olivais, in Lisbon, after the young woman did not answer her mother’s phone calls. “I asked her father to go home,” explained the parent to the same publication. Around her neck, Marta would have a rope “made of laces and rubber bands”. The last person in the family to have contact with the young woman was the older sister, the day before the tragedy. “My oldest daughter spoke to her on her cell phone and she said she was going on vacation in August.”
These plans and other details that were in the room do not make sense and, therefore, the family denies that it is a suicide: “There are indications that prove the contrary”. These signs are “blood in the room”, the feet that did not seem “to be supported on anything to have been hung” and also the computer that was connected under the bed, a situation that was not usual.
Because they believe that this is a crime, Marta Fernandes’ parents have already become assistants in an investigation that the Public Ministry is expected to open. The mother is suspicious of who might want to harm her daughter but cannot reveal them.
