Keep

Of all the soundtracks and all the movie songs that make up the accessible universe that Spotiy offers, there are five of them that are the most listened to of all time by listeners. Not at all, as a curiosity, they have to have won the Oscar. Another curious fact is the absolute dominance of Hans Zimmer, three out of five songs gets into the top-five. And finally, and not so curiously, none of them are older than the year 2000. Old school loses out on new platforms, it seems. In any case, these are the five soundtracks that lead the ranking:

1) ‘Interstellar: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack‘:

It is the album of the soundtrack of the film directed by Christopher Nolan, ‘Interstellar’. The film music was composed by Hans Zimmer who had previously worked with Nolan on the Batman and ‘Inception’ trilogy. Zimmer was nominated in the category of ‘Best Soundtrack’ for this film, losing to Alexandre Desplat and his musical contracting party in ‘Grand Budapest Hotel’.

2) ‘La La Land‘:

The songs and music for ‘La La Land’, released in 2016, were composed and orchestrated by Justin Hurwitz, a classmate of the film’s director, Damien Chazelle, at Harvard University. And yes, in this case it did win the Oscar for best soundtrack, beating those of the films ‘Lion’, ‘Jackie’, ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Passengers’.

3) ‘Gladiator – Music From The Motion Picture’:

Gladiator’s soundtrack, the oldest of the most listened to, is the work of … Hans Zimmer once again. The 2000 film directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe did not win, however, the Oscar as it was taken by Tan Dum’s ‘Tiger and Dragon’.

4) ‘Inception‘:

In fourth place we would find the soundtrack of ‘Origin’ or (‘Inception’, in its original title), where the paths of Hans Zimmer and Christopher Nolan would come together again. 2010 film, the music of the German composer could not be awarded at the Oscars that year because he won the one of ‘The Social Network’, created by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross that would win again, precisely this year for the soundtrack of ‘ Soul’. It must be said that Zimmer has been nominated 10 times and has won an Oscar for the soundtrack of ‘The Lion King’ in 1994.

5) ‘Frozen‘.

The soundtrack contains songs by various artists but the 22 composed by Christophe Beck stand out. It was not nominated for the Oscars as a whole, but it contains the renowned ‘Let it go’, a song performed by Idina Manzel (composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert López) and which won the statuette in the category of ‘Best Original Song’. The OST also includes a cover by Demi Lovato.

And to enjoy!
