Shortly after the facelift of the Peugeot 3008, his modernized bigger brother, model 5008, also arrives. He underwent almost the same modifications as the smaller sibling.

The Peugeot 5008 debuted in its second generation in the fall of 2016, shortly after the launch of the technically related 3008 model. So when the smaller sibling was recently upgraded, a facelift of the 5008 was soon expected. It takes over the innovations already introduced on the improved 3008.
The main design change is the bow. Following the pattern of 3008, it received a so-called frameless mask, which optically gradually turns into a redesigned headlights. By the way, they experienced extended tusks in the style of other current Peugeot models. The GT version then differs by a specific mask to further distinguish it from other derivatives.

However, the stern was also slightly changed, the tail lights are dimmed, which optically widens the stern with a dark stripe over the boot lid. By the way, all lights can be Full-LEDs, in which case the diodes also use a reversing light. By the way, the front fog lights have disappeared from the car, and their function is taken over by a special “fog” mode of Full-LED headlights.
Inside, a new 10 “touchscreen multimedia system appears at the top of the center panel, further complemented by” piano “buttons. Peugeot also highlights a 12.3” digital instrument panel with “Normally Black” technology with high-performance reading for better readability and more prominent contrast. The whole is complemented by new color combinations of the interior.
As with the 3008, night vision is a novelty in the equipment. It detects pedestrians or wildlife up to a distance of 250 meters and alerts them to the instrument panel. Peugeot also highlights adaptive cruise control with stop & go for cars with an eight-speed automatic transmission, enhanced traffic sign recognition or a new generation of automatic braking that detects pedestrians and cyclists and works at night.
As for the range of engines, the 5008 has good news for diesel lovers. If the smaller 3008 got rid of the 2.0 BlueHDi turbodiesel (130 kW), the 5008 remains on offer. The rest of the portfolio does not change either. The 1.2 PureTech three-cylinder petrol engine (96 kW), the 1.6 PureTech four-cylinder (133 kW) and the 1.5 BlueHDi four-cylinder diesel four-cylinder (96 kW) also continue. Plug-in hybrid versions, unlike 3008 for 5008, are not available.
Like the modernized 3008, the Peugeot 5008 facelift will appear on European markets before the end of the year. The French plants in Rennes and Sochaux will take care of the production.
