The former British car icon MG is returning to Europe under the wings of the Chinese concern SAIC. Yesterday, it officially entered the Czech and Slovak markets, which was an ideal opportunity to unveil the price list.

Yesterday, a spectacular event took place in Holešovice, Prague, which officially started the operation of the MG carmaker on the Czech and Slovak markets. During the event, we were able to get acquainted in detail with both news, which will soon appear on our travels – crossover HP a plug-in hybrid SUV eHS.

During the roughly two-hour presentation, considerable emphasis was placed on the company’s British origins and especially its varied automotive history. However, it is no secret that today the carmaker belongs to the Chinese concern SAIC and its products will go to the Czech Republic under the banner of the company AutoBinck, which you may know as an importer of Mitsubishi.
MG ZS: Decent equipment for decent money
There were several topics around the new additions to the domestic vehicle fleet during the event, but we were most interested in Czech prices. The company’s management has previously announced that the pricing of both models could be attractive. And we can confirm that the word has been kept.
The price list of the ZS crossover, just over 4.3 meters long, starts at a nice amount of CZK 424,940. Here you get an atmospheric four-cylinder with a volume of 1.5 liters, an output of 78 kW and 141 newton meters of torque. The unit is combined exclusively with a five-speed manual transmission and power travels to the front wheels. Standard equipment Essential she is really rich. It includes, for example, 17 “alloy wheels, digital air conditioning, cruise control, front Bi-LED headlights, rear parking sensors and multimedia with a 10.1” screen and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. So far only wirelessly.

Higher design Emotion relies on the same motorization, but for CZK 458,940 it also provides synthetic leather seats with heated front, navigation, digital instrument panel, 360-degree parking camera, front fog lights or an audio system with six speakers and 3D sound.
The next level of equipment is Elegance. In addition to a richer list of elements, it also relies on other engines, namely a supercharged liter three-cylinder with an output of 82 kW and 160 newton meters per wheel. Here, the engine is combined with a six-speed manual and for the price of CZK 494,940 it gives, for example, a panoramic sunroof, an intelligent keyless opening system or button start. The design is seated on the top itself Exclusive for 529,940 CZK. Here, too, the car is powered by a three-cylinder liter, but in this case combined with a six-speed automatic transmission from Aisin. The equipment also includes an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold function.
MG eHS: Ten qualities as unique
The larger MG eHS SUV is 4574 mm long, which makes it fit between the Škoda Karoq and Kodiaq. In this case, the only drive available is a plug-in hybrid consisting of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor. The system power reaches 190 kW and the torque is 370 newton meters. One hundred in 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 190 km / h look more than promising. The standard equipment also includes an electronic XDS differential lock, which contributes to better driving characteristics. The traction battery has a capacity of 16.6 kWh and according to WLTP is enough for a range of 52 km. It can be charged with an output of up to 3.7 kW and it will take about 4.5 hours to fully.
But the biggest technical interest is certainly the gearbox. It is a ten-stage vending machine developed by the SAIC Group on its own. But beware, here are six stages reserved for the internal combustion engine and the remaining four electric motors. The transmission boasts an electromechanical clutch and an exceptional efficiency of 94%, as well as a short time to change gear – only 0.2 seconds!

But let’s get back to prices. The MG eHS is available in two trim levels. Execution Emotion costs CZK 887,940 and includes 18 ”alloy wheels, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, front and rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, navigation, digital instrument panel, six airbags and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
Higher Exclusive it will also supply front LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, front sports seats in combination with the Alcantara, leather upholstery, electrically operated fifth doors and aluminum sports pedals. With this equipment, you can still fit into a million, MG charges CZK 978,940.

Just today, the possibility of ordering the first pieces started. Finally, MG adds a classic warranty for its larger model for 7 years or 150,000 km, but also for a plug-in hybrid system and traction battery. In case of non-rusting, we are talking about coverage for seven years without limiting the number of kilometers. MG cars will be sold on the Czech and Slovak markets in twenty-six dealerships. Nineteen of them can be found in the country, seven in our neighbors.
