The melioration scandal: CBA officers searched the headquarters of the Polish Football Association

The melioration scandal reached the Polish Football Association. On Thursday morning, at the request of the prosecutor, officers of the Central Anticorruption Bureau conducted several searches, including at the PZPN headquarters in Warsaw.

In the official information, the prosecutor’s office said that not only the headquarters were searched PZPN in Warsaw, but also district football associations, the City Hall in Koszalin, headquarters of several companies and private apartments.

The meliorative affair: what is it about?

Thursday’s searches are related to one of the threads of the so-called the melioration scandal concerning “financial irregularities in the activities of the All Sports Promotion Foundation, acting on behalf of AZS Koszalin SA”.

PK reminds that in July 2019, 7 people were detained in this case, who were charged with money laundering and fraud. Last year’s detainees included the president of the foundation, Łukasz B., and legal counsel and tax advisor, Michał D.

In the years 2011-2013, the Foundation acting on behalf of AZS Koszalin SA was to sign contracts for advertising services with Zakłady Chemiczne. However, after analyzing the documentation, it was revealed that some of the funds transferred by ZC did not go to AZS Koszalin SA, but were transferred to the account of another foundation, and then transferred to the company and paid by its partners. – As a result, there was an unfavorable disposal of property by Zakłady Chemiczne in the amount of approximately PLN 2 million – PK informed.

In the course of the investigation carried out in the West Pomeranian Department of the CUT, evidence was collected which – according to the Press Department of the CUT – justified the conduct of the searches on September 10.

One of the excluded threads of this proceeding is that of senator Stanisław Gawłowski. On July 3, 2019, the prosecutor filed an indictment against him. Gawłowski is accused of, inter alia, for accepting bribes in the amount of at least PLN 733 thousand PLN in cash, as well as real estate in Croatia and two luxury watches. He was also supposed to persuade to pay a bribe to the director of the West Pomeranian Board of Melioration and Water Facilities in Szczecin, hide the origin of the Croatian real estate crime, reveal classified information and plagiarize in his doctoral dissertation.

The trial is pending in the district court in Szczecin.
